The two sisters -- for reasons that only make sense in the world of the film -- not only board Captain Taylor's (Matthew Modine) ship but jump right into the rusty shark cage that Taylor is winched through with a winch from a junkyard.

We already know what to expect from the film's title. A woman's five-meter dive turns into a 47-meter plunge to the bottom of the ocean. They have to choose: stay on the bottom of the sea or swim to the surface, risking bends and sharks. Finding nothing of interest around the bends, the sisters decided not to make contact, hoping for a miraculous rescue.

Expectations never rise

The sisters realize their failure and begin to talk about sibling rivalry and petty jealousy. It is at this point (or maybe even earlier) that we begin to sympathize with the sharks.
